What is PCI MAX 2004?
PCI MAX 2004 is a computer card that will change the way you listen
to your MP3's or other audio via PC. It will effectively change your PC into
a FM radio station.
Before you install your PCI MAC card check that you are not breaking the law
in your country.
Only use a clear frequency and do not block local transmissions.
You will be able to play your audio files (CD, wav, MP3, real audio etc.) from
your PC through radio waves directly to your household radio receiver in the
next room, in the living room, across your yard, in whole block of flats. I
repeat, you need just an ordinary radio receiver to receive your signal. The
included software lets you set the frequency and the output power.
You can either service your living room, garden or an entire building. Get rid
of these pesky cables!
It can never be easier that this. Install this card into your PC as you would any other PC card. Install software and you're ready to broadcast! Software gives you full control over frequency. Power can be changed with an onboard jumper (Lo and Hi setting). Coupled with MP3 player and scheduling plug ins this becomes a fully automated radio station! Perfect for fully automated guided tours, wireless link from your PC to your stereo... You're only limited by imagination.
What is new since PCI MAX ULTRA?
This is the latest and by far the best member in our family of PC based FM transmitters. It features an onboard DSP stereo encoder and finally a DC/DC converter that ensures complete suppression of noise coming from the PC. Most of the audio chain has been redesigned thoroughly and is now vastly superior to the old PCI MAX ULTRA. PCI MAX 2004 has a built-in balanced audio inputs, precise preemphasis and MPX filter. It can be switched to MONO or STEREO by a simple click of a mouse button. There are two phono audio inputs at the back of the card, one of which connects to the sound card via provided jumper cable. The other phono jack can be used for speakers (so you can still use that audio output for speakers). Audio can also be fed to the card from other audio sources (cd players, mixers etc). Output power can be changed via an on-board trimmer anywhere from full down to zero. PLL has been redesigned.
PCI MAX 2004 can also be used in stand alone mode! A small control unit with LED display can be connected via flat cable and enables display/changing of the frequency.

Note the blue connector for the LED display (only used in stand
alone mode). Also, there is a blue trimmer close to the antenna connector. This
is where you can set the power level, if necessary and if local laws allow it.

Questions and answers about PCI MAX
Q: How long does it take to be delivered?
A: Depends on your country and selected type of shipping! Express shipping is
only about 5-10 euros more than air mail, but it offers the benefit of being
2-3x faster and being trackable. Please use express shipping to make sure you
receive your product on time.
Q: Can this also transmit any PC
audio including Internet radio, either Real Player or Windows Media, or is this
strictly for use with MP3 files? Looks like a nice product.
B: Absolutely. It will transmit anything that your sound card plays. You can
transmit Everything audio. You can even connect it to an external MD player,
CD player, cassette deck, turntable, audio mixer......The sky is the limit.
Q: Do I need an external power supply
for PCI MAX?
A: No, it is powered by the PC. But there is a connector for an external power
supply. Using an external power supply provides a lower noise operation. PC's
power supply is generally quite noisy. Using an external power supply removes
this noise. You can get a suitable stabilized DC power supply from radio shack,
make sure it is a well stabilized DC power supply; 12-13.8V / 1A. Note that
the 5W booster also provides this external voltage for the PCI MAX ULTRA.
Q: Where is the high power jumper?
A: This jumper was only present on the previous version. Latest version is set
to high by default.
Q: Is PCI MAX stereo?
A: Yes, PCI MAX IS STEREO!
Q: What is the range of PCI MAX
ULTRA?
A: High power setting will cover the house and a large yard, with good external
antenna. It should definitely cover one house. With 5W amplifier you are likely
to cover from 1 mile to 10 miles, depending on antenna and terrain configuration.

Q: Tell me more about the 5W amplifier!
A: This is actually a two-stage unit with a high quality low pass filter at
the output. Harmonics are at least 50dB under the carrier. You are advised to
consult the legal limitations in your country before you attempt to use it.
Q: Can I increase power/range?
A: Yes, you can add an amplifier (5W booster). Make sure your amplifiers features
a low pass filter at the exit. You are advised to consult the legal limitations
in your country before you attempt to use it.
